Topaz VideoAI is going subscription

It was just announced Topaz Video AI (and Photo and all their other programs) are switching to a subscription model as of 16th September.

If you currently own Topaz it will carry on as a permanent licence, but all future updates will only be part of the new subscription. They say that if you have a current licence then you will be able to renew at a lower price than new users. They also say that if you have an on-going licence for two products that you will get access to the whole “studio” range of applications.

I am honestly not sure what will happen if you buy Topaz Video or any of the others before 16th September – or if you have a lapsed licence and pay to make it active before then.

Personally I have an on-going contract of video AI and a lapsed one for Photo AI, plus I have been beta testing their latest Video AI and Starlight sharp model.

I am not a big fan of subscription myself but as Topaz were continually improving their models I have been paying each year anyway so it is not too different.  There is a thread about this on their forums but there are lots of annoyed people posted there too so it is hard to see the wood for the trees :
